Casper TNG Enters A New Era With “Draft Day”

After more than a decade of making his name in Toronto, Casper TNG is officially stepping into a new chapter with his debut album Draft Day.

Released August 18 through Universal Music Canada, the 14-track project marks Casper’s first official album under the Universal umbrella and turns years of independent momentum into what feels like the start of a bigger run.

The title Draft Day plays off Casper’s basketball background. For him, getting drafted represents the moment the work finally turns professional, but the album is really about everything that happened before his name was called.

That story makes sense considering Casper has spent years building one of Toronto’s most loyal rap fanbases before reaching this point.

One of the records leading the project is “Die 2 Young” featuring 100Bandplan, a frequent collaborator who also appears on Casper’s Platinum-certified record “The Market.” The “Die 2 Young” video was shot in Paris, adding to a larger visual campaign that took Casper across Toronto, London, Thailand and the Dominican Republic.

The album also shows Casper expanding outside of his usual circle.

OzzCash appears on “Chamber Of Secrets,” while UK rapper M Huncho joins Casper on “Don’t Watch Tennis.” The project also includes K Money and A Boogie wit da Hoodie across its 14-song tracklist.

The timing couldn’t be better.

Casper’s “The Market” recently earned Platinum certification in Canada after becoming one of his biggest records to date, eventually receiving an official remix with A Boogie wit da Hoodie.

Now Draft Day feels less like Casper introducing himself and more like an artist who already survived the come-up finally getting his opportunity on a bigger stage.

With “Die 2 Young” at the centre of the rollout, Casper TNG’s next chapter is officially underway.
