While driving a Porsche on backroads, pushing the speed while the drone team grabbed shots overhead, her phone flew deep into the car from the acceleration. Sammi had to help look for it and when they found it, it was still recording. A perfect accident that summed up everything. She lives inside the adrenaline instead of running from it.
Her sound choices make even more sense when you hear her story. She grew up heavy on UK drill in high school with artists like Russ Millions, Digga D, Stormzy, POUNDZ and Dave shaping the soundtrack of her early years. That influence is exactly why she chose to flow on a UK drill beat for this record. It is familiar to her but she flips it with her Jamaican and Canadian identity, creating a tone that is not coming from anyone else in the city.
