Robbi Niles Puts His Foot on the Gas With “Grip the Curb”

There’s something magnetic about an artist who knows exactly who they are from the first bar. On “Grip the Curb,” Robbi Niles does more than introduce himself he throws you straight into the fast lane of his life.

The Barbados-born, Toronto-based artist arrives with a fully formed sound on his self-produced debut, blending trap’s aggressive pulse with the slick bounce of dancehall. The result is a track that feels equal parts race-ready and club-approved. It’s gritty. It’s sexy. And it’s very much his.

Inspired by the underground racing culture that shaped his youth in Barbados and, yes, Tokyo Drift “Grip the Curb” lives in that pocket where speed meets seduction. The title itself is a nod to precision, control, and the high-stakes thrill of making tight turns at full speed. But Robbi isn’t just talking about cars here.

“It’s that same feeling on the dancefloor,” he says. “There’s something about being right on the edge. It’s dangerous, but you don’t want to pull back.”

That duality lives in every layer of the song. His production leans heavy on booming 808s and warped synths, while his vocals move between gritty baritone and melodic smoothness. He’s not rapping to impress he’s inviting you into his world. And that world is one where fast cars, beautiful women, and Caribbean rhythm all coexist without needing explanation.

But “Grip the Curb” isn’t trying to be deep. That’s part of what makes it work. It’s not overthought or over-polished. It feels instinctive, lived-in. Like the kind of track made late at night when the city is quiet but your mind isn’t. There’s confidence in how little Robbi tries to prove himself he simply exists in the pocket and lets the energy do the rest.

What’s more interesting is where he’s going next. With a full rollout planned for 2025 complete with more singles, visuals, and a campaign rooted in culture Robbi’s clearly building something bigger than a one-off drop.

He’s not chasing a sound. He’s shaping his own.

And if “Grip the Curb” is your first time hearing the name Robbi Niles, it probably won’t be the last.
