T.O BornStar Is Bridging Ghana &Toronto

From losing his mother as a baby to building momentum across two continents, the young artist is turning pain into purpose with his EP THE WAY UP.

A Story That Starts With Loss

Every artist has a story. For T.O BornStar, it starts with a moment that shaped his entire life. Born Enoch Darkoh Bannerman on May 3, 2006, his journey began with tragedy. He lost his mother when he was just three months old. It’s the kind of loss most people can’t even process as adults, yet it became part of the foundation that would shape his drive later in life. Though born in Canada, BornStar spent most of his upbringing in Ghana, where he developed both his identity and his early connection to music. Growing up between cultures would eventually become a defining element of his sound. After completing high school, he made the move back to Canada, stepping into a new chapter of his life with bigger ambitions.

Finding His Sound

BornStar first started experimenting with music in 2020, but what began as passion quickly evolved into something more serious. By 2024, he officially stepped into the game as a professional artist. What separates him from many newcomers is his versatility. Instead of locking himself into one lane, BornStar moves comfortably between Dancehall, Drill, and Hip Hop, blending Caribbean rhythms, African influence, and North American rap energy. It’s a mix that reflects his life experience: a young artist shaped by multiple cultures and scenes.

Records That Started Making Noise

As he continued building his catalogue, several songs began catching attention. Tracks like “Twerk” started gaining traction locally, becoming one of the songs that helped introduce his sound to listeners. Another standout record, “Coming” featuring Addi Self, further expanded his reach, showing his ability to collaborate and tap into different audiences. More recently, his song “New Dance” has been going viral in Ghana, proving his connection to the country where he grew up remains strong. For BornStar, it’s not just about Toronto or Ghana. It’s about building a bridge between both.

THE WAY UP

On December 5, 2025, BornStar took a major step forward with the release of his EP, THE WAY UP. The project represents more than just a collection of songs. It captures the mindset of a young artist who understands that success isn’t given, it’s built. Each record reflects his hunger, ambition, and belief that his story is only beginning. The title itself says everything, for BornStar, this isn’t the destination. It’s just the climb.

More Than Music

Outside the studio, BornStar is balancing multiple pursuits. He’s currently studying Computer Programming in college, building skills that show he’s thinking beyond the typical artist path. At the same time, he’s investing energy into his clothing brand PROVE DEM WRONG. The name speaks directly to his mentality. It represents resilience, ambition, and the determination to succeed despite doubt. It’s a philosophy that mirrors both his life and his music.

The Next Chapter

At just 19 years old, T.O BornStar is still early in his journey. But with a growing catalogue, international attention between Canada and Ghana, and a mindset focused on growth, he’s positioning himself as part of the next generation of artists shaping the sound of both worlds. If THE WAY UP is any indication, the name BornStar might not be a coincidence. For him, it’s a prediction.
